About Findaport.net
Having spent 20 years in the Ocean Transportation Industry, we continually found it frustrating and time consuming to find a destination Seaport for a customer's shipment. We spent time either calling carriers or using a map. Even though we knew the names and locations of most of the Seaports in the world, many of the destination cities our customers were in weren't on a contemporary map. So we spent time mapping both points and hoping we were sending the shipments to the closest point.
Once we found out the port, we didn't know right away which carriers serviced that lane. Then we had an epiphany - why not build the technology that locates the closest Airport or Seaport to our destination city so we could have our answer in just seconds. And that is what we did. There are well in excess of a billion different point combinations in our database and we are very excited to share this technology with the world.
Our intention is to build this web portal into the complete International Freight and Travel information guide on the Internet. Since freight moves on the same commercial airlines as passengers do, we see a direct connection between these two industries.
